Who or What is an NGO Focal Point?
An NGO focal point is a representative of an ECOSOC-accredited NGO who is designated by the NGO itself the responsibility of approving registrations for that specific NGO in Indico.
Focal points can only see registrations affiliated with his/her NGO and verifies that there is no misrepresentation.
How many focal points can an NGO have?
An NGO may have up to two focal points.
How does someone become an NGO focal point?
Focal points are designated by the main NGO representative using the iCSO system (Integrated Civil Society Organizations system).
Focal points designated through this system are able to manage in Indico registrations for their NGO after a few business days.
What actions can an NGO focal point perform in Indico?
An NGO focal point can only approve or reject registrations submitted to an event for his/her NGO. Go here to view the article.
He/she may also export a list of registrants and their data to xls if the permission has been assigned. Go here to view the article.
Can NGOs which are NOT in consultative status with ECOSOC designate NGO focal points to approve its registrations?
No. In this situation, and if an event is open to NGOs not in ECOSOC consultative status, then registrations are instead evaluated by conference managers responsible for the event directly.
Do NGO participants register themselves to events?
Yes. They should each have their own account and register themselves to events through their accounts.
When completing the registration form, he/she should select the NGO they are affiliated with within the context of the event.
Is an NGO focal point automatically registered to events?
No, NGO focal points should register themselves to events they wish to attend and then approve themselves in the same way as they would for other representatives of the NGO.
Does an NGO focal point change from one event to the next?
NGO focal points are applicable to any event open to ECOSOC-accredited NGOs. An NGO can modify its focal points at any time through iCSO.
If an NGO focal point leaves and needs to be removed/replaced, how is this done?
The main NGO representative performs an update in iCSO accordingly. Updates take a few business days to be reflected in Indico before an NGO focal point can take action.
